About Jordan
Some people think of Jordan as the Switzerland of the Middle East but don't expect to hear cow bells ringing on snow-capped mountains. Like New York, Amman is full of inexpensive yellow cabs. Like Paris, it's home to some of world's best hotels. Like Rome, it's built on rolling hills (21 at last count). Like Cairo, it's been around since the beginning of time. Like the UK, it has a constitutional monarchy and a stable government. Like Athens it has a wonderful Mediterranean climate.
But while Amman may have elements of many cities, it's the contrasts that most visitors and residents notice. Embracing old and new, conservative and liberal, christianity and islam, Jordan (particularly Amman) is a melting pot of cultures, peoples and ideas which for all the contrasts manages to be a very harmonious city.
If you come to Amman you'll find the cost of accommodationis favourable to a lot of other cities in the Middle East. Serious crime is negligible and living is generally easy. You'll find all the businesses you're used to from Starbucks and MacDonalds to major international banks and fashion houses.
