This course introduces its students to the world of graphic design and visual communication. The course equips you with professional skills enabling you to create and design your own publications for print.

The course will give you an overview of the complete professional Graphic Design production process: from the development of visual concepts and communication strategies, project planning and pitching to the design implementation in professional graphic software, pre-press, quality control and finally the successful presentation of the final product.

As this course is focused on practical skills transfer, students will have the chance to develop their own Graphic Design portfolio which may be useful for future full-time design course applications or when seeking employment.

Who should take this course?
The 6 months Graphic Design course is intended for everybody who enjoys experimenting with visual editing tools for graphics, photographs or layouts and for those who want to start a career as a Graphic Designer or Art Director in the advertising world. The program is open to anyone; no prior experience or personal equipment is needed.

You would benefit from this course if:
- you want to learn how to create professional designs and layouts
- gain a deeper understanding of visual concepts
- you already have skills in that field but want to work more efficiently
or “update” your skills
- you want to further develop your visual “eye“ and aesthetic perception

This course can be used as a ‘stepping stone’ for students who wish to progress to our more advanced qualifications, the Diploma of Multimedia and the BA (Hons) Multimedia Arts degree.

Contents: Design principles, typography, color theory, visual concepts, communication strategies, professional skills in Adobe Photoshop, Adobe Illustrator and Adobe InDesign, pre-press, design of symbols and logos, business cards, letterheads, advertisements, brochures, CD covers, posters and labels, project management.
